During Thesis Week you will meet your group twice a day to make a plan for the day, discuss your progress, and get advice and support. Throughout the week you will also have the opportunity to ask your tutor questions individually.
Thesis Weeks are offered online or on location. You are asked to indicate a preference when applying for the Thesis Week. Please note that it may not be possible to honour your preference, depending on availability.
All students of the University of Amsterdam are welcome: the only requirement is that you are working on your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis.
Are you writing your thesis in Dutch, or would you prefer a Dutch-speaking thesis group? Visit the Schrijfcentrum page.
Online registration opens about three weeks beforehand (mark your calendar to avoid disappointment, as there are usually more applications than spots).
Upon filling out the application form, you will be requested to pay a deposit of €50,-. This fee will be reimbursed to you if you meet the attendance requirements. A place is only reserved after receipt of the deposit has been confirmed by the Writing Centre.
Application opens three weeks in advance. You can sign up to the Thesis Weeks by clicking the dates and filling out the application form. To give all students an equal opportunity to participate you can apply for one thesis week per year.
Is the week you wanted to sign up for full? You can also make one or more individual appointments with a writing tutor for help with things like motivation, planning, setting realistic deadlines for yourself and holding yourself accountable.
